Not my most favorite book of Jane Austen. I think I’m turned off by the heroine’s mother.

Review: Rose Gardner Mystery #6.5-9.5

Rose Gardner Mystery Box Set #3 (6.5-9.5)Rose Gardner Mystery Box Set #3 by Denise Grover Swank

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh my stars and garters, I can’t get enough of this series! There ain’t a cotton picking thing I don’t like.

Against a pot boiler of a plot thick with criminal suspense and political intrigue, Ms Swank has woven in stunning twists, emotional turmoil and tender romance and thrown in some hilarious situations and colorful characters that engaged my deep interest. I’m breathless with admiration at how Rose transformed and grown through the series. One of the rare series replete with murder and mayhem that manages to combine humor, romance and suspense into a powerful made for TV drama. Entertaining to the last page.

So thankful she decided to continue and develop this series after 30 and a half. It would have been a tragedy for readers like me if she’d let what she thought was lackluster sale stop her. She made me a fan of Rose and Neely Kate.

Review: Thirty-Four and a Half Predicaments

Thirty-Four and a Half Predicaments Bonus Chapters (Rose Gardner Mystery #7.5)Thirty-Four and a Half Predicaments Bonus Chapters by Denise Grover Swank

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

By far the best book in the series even though every single one of them is engrossing and thrilling in its own right.

I’m still reeling from the shocking conclusion that Ms Swank has stunned the readers with. Definitely nail bitingly excellent to the very last page. Can’t wait to pursue the conspiracies to their vey end.

Already had the murderer pegged halfway through the book. But the story was too gripping and I simply had to find out what happens to Rose and Joe.

Review: Twenty-Eight and a Half Wishes

Twenty-Eight and a Half Wishes (Rose Gardner Mystery #1)Twenty-Eight and a Half Wishes by Denise Grover Swank

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A refreshing amateur sleuth story arc with funny twists and small town intrigue thrown into the mix.

I’ve enjoyed Ms Swank’s style of writing in the romance novels. The snappy pace and fluid flow of the story from Rose’s POV helps drive the plot forward to a most satisfying end. What a great debut to what promises to be an addictive series.

A gripping mind bender that caught me in its web of suspense, drama, politics, intrigue and romantics tension. So much so I had to get the next two in the series.

The twists and turns in the unfolding plot kept me glued to the pages, guessing what’s next. Can’t wait to chase this story down to its heart pounding end!

Review: Sweet Cheeks

Sweet Cheeks
Sweet Cheeks by K. Bromberg
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have a soft spot in my heart for second chance romances, and this new to me author got the recipe just right. I mean, the classic wedding date just got a lot more interesting when the date”s the one who got away, the first love that the heroine has never gotten over.

It didn’t hurt that the hero is a little alpha, a bit sweet, and a whole lot of fun. While their complicated past shaded their perceptions of how their romance never did blossom, the present wiser and more matured selves are brace enough to take that leap of faith, and fall again.

That last section where Hayes wooed Saylor via social media, inspired gifts and his A-game? That was one of the best bits of courting, beaten over by the proposal/ wedding. A 5-star afternoon well spent that puts the warm and fuzzy back into my new year weekend.
