Review: The Catching Kind

The Catching Kind
The Catching Kind by Bria Quinlan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have a ‘little thing’ for jock/nerd pairings so the synopsis read like this wold be another fun romp promising sparks, witty dialogue and a hard look at the notion of beauty. This sweet little romance pitches ‘plain jane’ author Hailey Tate against playboy athlete Connor Ryan, who has to clean up his rep via a staged relationship with the intelligent heroine, who didn’t leave a great first impression when the two first met.

As they worked through their fictitious relationship, they find more things to like about each other. Lines started blurring, and emotions (and a couple of prejudices) started getting in the way of how both relate to each other. There were sweet tender moments thrown in with comical situations while the underlying conflict of beauty and self-worth is played out to a happy ending. Overall, an enjoyable read that I wouldn’t mind seen adapted for the big screen. Oh, and an epilogue would be nice.
