My 2010 Reading Plan

One of the most exciting things about reading is joining a challenge.  This year, with three challenges across different genres, it’ll require more careful planning so the journey is enjoyable yet fulfilling.  Looking at the themes of the two major reading challenges I’ve signed up for, here’s the list I’ve drawn up:

Jan (Category Romances): Dear John by Nicholas Sparks

Feb  (hero in pursuit): How To Tame A Modern Rogue by Diana Holquist (also for Who Are You Again?)

Mar  (Historical romance or fiction or mystery):

Mansfield Park by Jane Austen – definitely can be entered for Older Than You

The Return from Troy by Lindsay Clarke

The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald – definitely can be entered for Older Than You

Apr (SFR or SF/F or fantasy):

Any of these could be entered under this category or the TBR category for 2010 or Up to You! category

Hades’ Daughter by Sara Douglass

The Firebrand by Marion Zimmer Bradley

Eldest by Christopher Paolini

Victory of Eagles by Naomi Novik
the graveyard book
Jun (YA fiction): could be read for the 2010 Challenge — The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

Jul (Unusual professions): It’s a good thing  the DearAuthor team has put together a book bundle with Harlequin. It’s going to be my lifesaver.

Aug (New Authors): Rhapsody by Elizabeth Haydon

Am still searching for the right books for May (Friends to lovers or reunited lovers), Sep  (Translated), Oct  (Western) and Nov (Marriage of Convenience)

Dec 2010 (Contemporary): The Time Traveller’s Wife by Audrey NIFFENEGGER, unless I happen to read it much sooner

archangels-kiss Petite Anglaise the-time-travelers-wife

Shiny & New
Good thing I haven’t used that book voucher received as a Christmas gift.  Now’s the time to bring that out and still stick to my resolution of buying less print, and these are the books I’m eyeing:

The Last Song by Nichols Sparks
Sea Glass
by Maria Snyder

Bad Blogger’s *** and Charity
I need 4 books for these two categories and further hunting so these will have to wait.

New in 2010
Archangel’s Kiss (Guild Hunter)
by Nalini Singh and new releases from either Gena Showalter, Julia Quinn, Eloisa James, Kresley Cole and Lisa Kleypas. Needs checking out.

Win! Win!
Lord of the Rings
by J R R Tolkien and one other to be decided

Who Are You Again?

Petite Anglaiseby Catherine Sanderson
